Welcome to the Kell High School Orchestra, located in Marietta, Georgia, founded in 2002 and led by Orchestra Director Jessica Fuchs.
We proudly serve over 115 students across three dynamic string ensembles: Concert Orchestra, Sinfonia Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra, each offering unique challenges and opportunities for growth. Our Mission
The mission of the Kell High School Orchestra is to provide a creative, engaging, positive, and purposeful musical experience for all members. We promote a culture of acceptance, mutual respect, leadership, and integrity and are proud members of our community.
Kell Orchestra Ensembles
Concert Orchestra
Concert Orchestra is an intermediate level orchestra that continues instruction after middle school. The content of this course includes instruction in performance techniques with emphasis placed on technical and musical skills through the study of rudimentary exercises and mainly grade 2-3 string orchestra repertoire. Individual practice outside of class time is necessary for successful mastery of performance standards
Sinfonia Orchestra
Sinfonia Orchestra is an advanced-level orchestra. This course includes advanced instruction in performance techniques with emphasis placed on technical and musical skills through the study of mainly grade 4-5 string orchestra repertoire. Individual practice outside of class time is necessary for successful mastery of performance standards. Prerequisite: Audition
Chamber Orchestra
Chamber Orchestra is comprised of students at the highest skill level and serves as the elite string ensemble at KHS. Students in this course will demonstrate a mastery level of proficiency on violin, viola, cello, bass. Students should be prepared to complete rigorous performance assessments and spend time outside of class for performances. Individual practice outside of class time is necessary for successful mastery of performance standards. Prerequisite: Audition
Jessica Fuchs
Kell High School Orchestra Director
Jessica Fuchs currently serves as Director of Orchestras at Kell High School in Marietta, GA, where she has been since 2022. Prior to her position at Kell, she served as Orchestra Director at Ola Middle School and Co-Orchestra Director at Dodgen Middle School. Under her direction, the orchestra programs increased in enrollment and repeatedly received superior ratings at LGPE. As an educator, Mrs. Fuchs strives to facilitate a creative, engaging, purposeful, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
A native of Acworth, Georgia, Mrs. Fuchs holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, where she studied under the guidance of Dr. Rebecca MacLeod and Dr. Fabian Lopez. During her time at UNCG, Mrs. Fuchs held the position of Undergraduate Research Assistant and was the recipient of the Community-Based Undergraduate Research and Creativity Award in 2018. In 2020, her work on “Near-Peer Mentorship: A Model for Private Music Instruction in an Underserved Community” was published in String Research Journal.
Mrs. Fuchs serves as GMEA District 12 Orchestra Chair, GMEA District 12 LGPE Coordinator, sits on the K-12 ASTA Committee and CCSD Fine Arts Advisory Council. She is an active member of GMEA, ASTA, and NAfME and is a sought after Violin clinician in the Atlanta area.
